Laser Eye Surgery?
Laser Eye Surgery?
The two most commonly performed vision correction procedures in Canada are as follows...

LASEK and LASIK
LASEK (Laser Assisted Sub-Epithelial Keratectomy)

- A more advanced and refined version of PRK
- Corrects nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism
- The least invasive option for Laser Vision Correction available
- No cut, no flap
- Can treat patient with thin flat corneas and dry eyes, due to the fact that there is no incision

LASIK (from laser assisted in-situ keratomileusis)

- A surgical blade is used to create an incision in to the cornea to create a flap.
- This flap then allows the laser to access the cornea so it may be reshaped
- The flap is then re-placed over the eye
- There can be future problems relating to the flap, such as the flap re-opening
- In most cases patients with thin flat corneas and dry eyes may not be suitable candidates due to the incision
